Andrea Janovic is originally from northern Ohio, and moved to Kentucky in 2000.  Her undergraduate work is in medical anthropology.   Her graduate work, prior to becoming a lawyer, is in social anthropology, with an emphasis on legal and political systems.  She conducted her PhD research in anthropology in the Middle East, where she studied the legal status of women and conflict and dispute resolution processes.

 

In 2005, Andrea graduated with her J.D. from Salmon P. Chase College of Law.  She now practices primarily in Campbell, Kenton and Boone Counties.

 

Andrea has served as an adjunct professor at various colleges and universities, teaching courses in anthropology and criminology.

 

Andrea is also active in her community.  She served almost eight years on the Newport Board of Education, and served on various committees at the local and state levels for the local board and the Kentucky School Boards Association during her tenure.

 

Andrea is now serving on the board of directors of the historic Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate, Kentucky.   Andrea also helped to establish the Friends of Evergreen Cemetery not-for-profit volunteer organization aimed at revitalization and preservation of the historic cemetery.  Andrea has also served as a literacy/English as a Second Language (ESL) tutor.

 

In the law, Andrea has a special interest in pursuing the rights of fathers to be actively engaged in the lives of their children.  She also has experience in pursuing Grandparent’s Rights.   Andrea is an avid supporter of the right of a child to be breastfed and to not be forcibly weaned under one year of age by order of a court.   She is involved in efforts aimed at protecting the rights of children and promoting education, justice and human rights worldwide.
